me&myBoys

Life with boys. Married to one, raising one, and one that is brand new. Gotta love it.

I am 30 years old, married with children. If the 20's are for finding yourself, I think it's happened just in time. Up til now I've kind of felt like a poser. But, these boys . . . Ry, G, & O . . . they've helped me become who I'm supposed to be. Being part of their lives, helping them know they are precious and loved is what I am supposed to do. Everything else is extra to that primary goal.

poor pig

One of the things Ryan's prayed for the boys is that they would have a tender heart, we've done this since we knew we were pregnant with Graham. Well, I think it may have taken extremely strong in Graham.

The other day, my sister, Sabrina brought a fun little gift for Graham over her visit to Nashville. She gave him the DVD, "Charlotte's Web." Ryan popped it in for Graham while we were out running errands, and later called me. He asked if I could hear Graham. He was sobbing loudly in the background. We all had forgotten the plot line of Charlotte's Web. Graham had been watching with delight what he thought was a fun "farm" show, but then it got to the point early on in the movie where the little girl has to give away her pet pig to another farm. I guess it was just too much grown-up reality for his happy little world, he looked at Ryan, with shocked eyes, then his lower lip quivered out, and he buried his head in Ryan's chest and just cried and cried for the longest time.

Even after the sobbing had stopped, and Ryan had put in Baby Einstein for some distraction, Graham would randomly look at Ryan, and with tear-filled eyes and a break in his voice say "pig . . . pig" shake his head, and start crying all over again.

Ryan asked if he should have just skipped over that part, but by then I remembered the ending to this heart-wrenching story, and thought better of it considering that after the poor pig loses his little girl, he makes one dear friend, Charlotte, who constantly keeps him from being BUTCHERED, then after you get good and attached to sweet Charlotte, what happens? . . . she DIES.

Hey Shannon! I know exactly what you mean!! My mom put in The Fox and the Hound for Brooklyn and it got to the part where the little old woman had to take the fox to the woods and Brooklyn had tears in her eyes and to this day, won't watch that movie. They should really put a emotion rating on these movies also. What a sweet boy! Can't wait for you guys to move back so we can get to know him a little more!

That is hilarious in a sad little way. Ah, the realities of life...as a mom I wish my kids never had to experience them. Annie cried for two days when one of her six baby chicks died. Such trauma!
